Using Imagery to cope with Gambling Thoughts and Urges

Use imagery to imagine your thoughts and urges as external to your self, and always shifting. For example, close your eyes visualise being in a peaceful place, for example, sitting on a river bank watching the river pass by. Each time you have a gambling thought or urge, imagine that it is passing along the river on a piece of floating wood. Don’t do anything to force it away, just visualise it passing by naturally.
